Chocolate and Peanut Butter on Bagels: A Great Morning Alternative

Chocolate and Peanut Butter on Bagels:

A Great Morning Alternative

Chocolate and peanut butter on bagels can be a great tasting alternative for a morning snack. Melted chocolate combined with peanut butter put between two bagel slices and heated can be a uniquely satisfying treat in the morning. People who like the taste of chocolate with peanut butter will really like it sandwiched between two heated bagel slices.

Chocolate/Peanut Butter Combo is Ultimate Comfort Food

Chocolate and peanut butter on a bagel is the ultimate comfort food. It’s fast and easy to make and it tastes great. I’ve been blending chocolate and peanut butter together for years but never added this combo to bagels or bread until a little while ago. I didn’t know what I was missing.

I also like using the larger New York style bagels in this combo instead of some of the smaller ones on the market. The chocolate and peanut butter combination seems to taste better on heated bagels too instead of uncooked ones. It’s ideal to heat the bagels using a panini press, but you can also heat it between a cast iron pan and pre-heated, no-stick pan. I will explain how to do that below.

Cooking Preparations:

Melt the chocolate over low heat, then take it off the heat to cool a bit. Mix the peanut butter into the chocolate. Some people like me prefer the chunky peanut butter with chocolate over the smooth peanut butter. Make the chocolate/peanut butter mix to your taste.

Choose the bagel you like – one with the size and texture your can enjoy. I prefer the larger, rougher textured bagels. Slice it and add your chocolate/peanut butter mix on it. Sandwich the mix between the two bagel slices.

Then wrap the bagel with tin foil that has been sprayed with a little cooking spray. Having it wrapped in tin foil will help heat it more evenly and will prevent the chocolate and peanut butter from spilling out.

Place the bagel into a flat panini press. Heat it for 60 – 120 seconds. If you don’t have a flat panini press, you can put the wrapped bagel into a pre-heated pan and place a cast iron pan on it and press down – this will heat the bagel in the same way as the pressed panini.

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Combo is good on Crusty Bread too

You can also use this chocolate and peanut butter combo on a nice chunk of homemade crusty bread as well. You don’t need to toast the crusty bread to get that textured taste; it already has it. You may want to heat the bread, but I also like it unheated.

If you’re in a real hurry, just toast two bagel slices in a wide mouth toaster, while making the chocolate/peanut butter mix. Then put the mix on the toasted bagel slices and sandwich them together. That’s good too in the morning.

So chocolate and peanut butter on a bagel or even crusty bread is a nice tasty alternative in the morning when you need that little extra comfort. Enjoy!
