Many people visit Hawaii this time of the year to escape the cold weather and to enjoy its warm inviting climate.  It’s a special treat for visitors.

But there is also another special treat in Hawaii for visitors who are chocolate lovers. I discovered it on my most recent trip to the Island of Kauai.  Its chocolate covered macadamia nuts, and they’re delicious.  

Whenever I travel, I like to check out what the locals eat so I deliberately visit the area’s local shops and small out of the way stores. I noticed that in most of the food stores I visited on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai had chocolate-covered macadamia nuts.  They were usually displayed in a prominent place in the store.

Intrigued, I decided to try some so I bought a rather large can of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts. They were wonderful.  I like macadamia nuts anyways and love anything chocolate so the combination was delightful to my taste palate.  They make a nice treat anytime of the day and were a real energy booster for me too.  

So if you are lucky enough to get to Hawaii this winter, check out a local favorite chocolate treat – chocolate-covered macadamia nuts.
